Marco Lorenzin:
Violin Soloist
Marco Lorenzini studied violin with Maestro Roberto Michelucci at the Florence Conservatory, where he graduated in 1981. He continued his studies in viola at the Morlacchi Conservatory in Perugia. He has collaborated extensively with the major symphony orchestras of Tuscany, performing under the direction of famous conductors and soloists.
For over 20 years, he has held the role of principal solo violin for the Florence Chamber Orchestra (Orchestra da Camera Fiorentina). During this time, he has performed at numerous prestigious music festivals in Brazil, Malta, Slovenia, and Poland. Many of these concerts have been broadcast on national television and radio.
Lorenzini is the first violin of the Michelangelo Ensemble and has composed numerous pieces for chamber music and solo performances. He is one of the most brilliant musicians of today’s generation.
Gianni Cigna – Pianist
Gianni Cigna is an accomplished Italian pianist and répétiteur, recognized for his refined interpretation of opera and classical repertoire. He graduated with honors from the Rinaldo Franci Music Institute in Siena and continued his advanced studies at the G. Puccini Conservatory in La Spezia.
Throughout his career, he has received numerous awards in prestigious national and international competitions, including the Genoa International Music Competition and the Giulio Rospigliosi National Music Interpretation Competition.
As a soloist and chamber musician, he has performed extensively across Italy and abroad, including concerts in London at St. Alfege’s Church in Greenwich. His repertoire spans from classical masterpieces to opera accompaniment, performing works such as Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 5 “Emperor.”
Gianni Cigna regularly collaborates with internationally renowned opera singers, including Katia Ricciarelli, Maria Luigia Borsi, Federico Longhi, and Antonello Palombi, establishing himself as a highly respected accompanist in the operatic world.
He works as a répétiteur and accompanist in major Italian theaters, including the Goldoni Theatre in Livorno, and collaborates with institutions such as the Mascagni Festival and the Mascagni Academy. In 2021, he also worked alongside conductor Gianna Fratta and soprano Amarilli Nizza.
Beyond performance, he is deeply involved in music education and artistic direction, having served as Artistic Director of the AperiOpera Festival, where he performed over 30 concerts with international opera singers.
Today, Gianni Cigna is highly regarded for his versatility, accompanying both vocalists and instrumentalists, and for his ability to bring depth and elegance to every performance.
